He is post graduate in Chemistry from University of Kerala. While perusing his Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore he joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1986. He served in various capacities in the provisional Government of Orissa and Kerala. He joined as Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, Government of India on 22nd Janauray,2009
