He has experience in handling patent matters in wide technology areas of mechanical engineering, automotive including electrical vehicles (EV), battery technology, charging technologies, advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), vehicle suspension and braking systems, safety devices for automobiles, engine air filters, and membranes. 

Drawing his rich expertise, equips him to handle patent matters in the areas of metallurgy, mineral processing, 3D printing technology, watch technology, smart wearables, renewable energy source, non-renewable energy sources, biomedical devices, consumer appliances, personal care products, jewellery products, and warehouse management solutions.

He also provides opinions on patentability, freedom-to-operate, due diligence and infringement analysis, and manages patents and design portfolios for Indian and foreign clients.

He works with corporate clients, reputed foreign IP law firms, multinationals, MSMEs, start-ups, and universities to obtain patent protection both in India and abroad. 

He regularly appears before the Indian Patent Office in connection with prosecution and oppositions of patent applications.

Gopinath is a regular speaker at national and international forums. He also actively conducting in-house trainings and webinars for R&D teams on various aspects of IP.
