The 10th Global IP Convention (GIPC 2018) was scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from 23rd to 25th January 2018. GIPC 2018, in its tenth year, served as an annual meeting platform for Board-level IP managers, IP regulators, policymakers, IP experts, litigators, investors, and their advisers. The event aimed to facilitate discussions on best practices and solutions to enhance IP management strategies. GIPC was India's biggest IPR event and attracted senior IP business decision-makers, in-house IP professionals, attorneys from law firms in India and abroad, IP owners, inventors, researchers, marketing professionals, and government officials. By attending GIPC 2018, participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand from industry experts who shared practical knowledge about current and substantive IP issues. The event covered a wide range of contemporary IP-related topics such as patent filings and prosecution in different jurisdictions, IP management for value optimization, contentious issues surrounding international conventions and TRIPs, the role of IP in international trade and foreign investment, technology transfer and licensing with case studies from Technology Transfer Offices, copyright issues in the media and entertainment industry, protection of geographical indications and community rights, trademark registration and essential considerations in different jurisdictions, trade secrets and confidentiality of data, and patent litigation in the pharmaceutical industry. GIPC 2018 was expected to be attended by more than 600 IP professionals representing various industries and top IP/Law Firms from over 50 countries including the USA, Germany, Switzerland, UK, Netherlands, South Africa, China, Japan, Korea, and India. It presented an excellent opportunity for knowledge sharing and networking, allowing participants to connect with colleagues and counterparts from different parts of the world.
